Darryl began formal training with jazz great Dale Bruning at the age of seven and also studied classical guitar with Alberto Sanjini. Like most musicians, he spent many formative years playing in local rock and R&B bands but also branched into theater (“Your Arms Too Short to Box With God”, “Grease”) and recording sessions. He has recorded with: Kim Onari, North Carolina Mass Choir, NFL Film Library, Pieces of a Dream, Ava Williams, Miles Jaye, Marty Debarge, Janis McClainTotal Commitment and many others. He has performed with: the Drifters, Sister Sledge, the late Ronnie Dyson, Miles Jaye, Lizanne Knott, Marion Williams, Ben Tankard, and Yolanda Adams. He is currently a member of “D-FOR”, a Philadelphia based jazz group that has just released their 3rd CD entitled “Intersection”.
